Default Upcoming sound system...

Currently I have the Pioneer AVH-P4000 headunit (bypassed of course) plus Pioneer TS-D1720C 6-1/2" components front & rear.

I drilled and mounted the F/R components without adapters which worked out nicely. The tweeters up front were mounted within the same location as originals and the rear were mounted up high on the doors toward the hinges.

Pioneer TS-SW251 shallow mount subs will be enclosed and mounted in the rear upper empty pockets designed for the pillar-net storage. A pioneer GM-5300T will be located under the rear seats and power the subs.

Since the original gear was Pioneer, which just happened to be my favorite, I didnt see any reason to stray from the brand when considering the sound upgrade for my Scion. This is more of a mild upgrade and wont have caps or multi-amps. The front/rear components are powered off the HU (which is deafening) and the rear subs will be amp-powered. I will post pics of current progress within the next couple of days and will upload new as I complete the install.

I just need to find out if I can use the speaker level outputs AND RCA outputs from the radio...

I am pondering some ideas:

Do you think a single sub (8" or 10") mounted in one of the rear quarter panel storage pockets and the amplifier mounted in the other would add ample bass? I am not looking for earth shaking bass but a complimentary bass for my components. Of course two subs would look more uniform but with a uni-backup light and center instrumentation, oddities on the xB are common.

Default installation includes (2) Premier 8" shallow subs and amp mounted under rear seat. But I was looking for something easily accessible and appealing at the same time with the single sub & amp idea...
